Working Holidaymakers Headed for South Australia

The first passenger will fly to Australia as part of the South Australian Tourism Commission’s £10 Flight promotion, with the goal of finding farm employment in the state. Niamh Mulkerrins, an Irish backpacker, is preparing to travel to Australia just weeks after the program’s announcement, which intends to encourage working vacationers to begin their journey in Adelaide and remote South Australia. More than 16,000 people in the UK and Ireland expressed interest in purchasing one of the 200 £10 roundtrip tickets to Adelaide, which sold out in less than five minutes. Ms Mulkerrins left Dublin earlier this week, and in June, she will be joined by ten other young travellers.

“I’m already considering extending my Working Holiday Visa and staying for another year. “To do this, I’ll need to work for 88 days in regional Australia, so I’m looking for farm employment in South Australia. “I’ve spent the previous seven years working in the insurance industry in Ireland, and I’m ready for a new challenge.” Due to the program’s success, the SA Tourism Commission is expanding the offer, with £499 roundtrip flights being provided to Working Holiday Visa holders who did not win the £10 campaign. Zoe Bettison, the tourism minister, said she was looking forward to meeting the £10 flyers.

“We know the backpackers will adore our tiny bar scene, beaches, national parks, and wineries because Adelaide is Australia’s most liveable city and voted third most liveable city in the world,” she added. “They’ll have a great experience working on outback stations, in country pubs, on oyster farms, and on conservation initiatives when they leave the city and its environs to discover regional SA.” “We have a variety of fascinating positions available across the state that will pay them a good wage and allow them to afford life-changing travel experiences.”
