In order to provide customers with a seamless shopping experience, Amazon has launched new concept stores. Though they are concept stores in nature, these shopping hubs are similar to traditional supermarkets. At the entrance, a self-service kiosk is present that allows consumers to utilize
At the entrance to the supermarket, there is a self-service kiosk that allows customers to try out Amazon’s new smart shopping cart Dash Cart. Dash Carts are very different from traditional shopping carts. Each product in the supermarket has various sensors and cameras. When placed in the shopping cart, items can be automatically tracked and identified, and the cost is calculated, including products sold by weight, such as fruits like peaches or apples.
After scanning the QR code with your mobile phone, you can start using the smart shopping cart. There are also staff in the store to answer questions at any time, but the most interesting feature of Amazon Fresh is Alexa can be found everywhere to help customers find products quickly. Just say “Alexa, where can I find mangoes” and Alexa will tell you where to go. After finishing shopping, the total amount will be automatically deducted from the bank card linked to your Amazon account and the receipt will be sent to your email box.
However, these shopping carts cannot be pushed out of the store, and after checkout, you need to use a normal shopping cart to transfer the products to the parking lot. In general, customers who have been to the stores praised them for being very clean, and the Amazon staff for being very friendly. The success or failure of Amazon Fresh stores is difficult to predict, but as an independent new concept, it is a new challenge to the traditional shopping model. There’s no need to wait in line to check out or bring a payment card – you can just leave the shop right after completing your shopping.
